In the context of the development strategy for the common European data space for cultural heritage, Europeana Foundation organized on 23rd October 2025 a collaborative workshop focused on defining the Europeana Education Community’s vision and role to improve the way cultural collections and data can be leveraged for innovation in education practices.
The workshop brought together ca. 20 participants from across Europe, including teachers and educators, digital culture experts, and other stakeholders connected to the educational reuse of online available collections, such as Europeana aggregators. Scope of the workshop was to engage all these different stakeholders to share their insights and voice their needs, with the ultimate aim to help shape tomorrow’s educational data ecosystem.
The participants, guided by Christine Hveding, Europeana Education Community Manager, shared experiences, challenges, and possible solutions when using the existing data services provided by the Europeana Foundation. In the workshop, participants also collaboratively developed a list of recommendations and statements to guide the Education Community’s contribution to the data space.
Following the workshop, the Education Community Steering Group aims to curate these contributions into a formal recommendation report, to be shared with the ENA Members’ Council, Management Board, and all stakeholders engaged in the design and implementation of the data space.
