Photoconsortium’s member OSZK (National Széchényi Library) – Historical Photo and Interview Gallery is organizing an exhibition titled “I write poetry as it comes” – Structural Games, Constructions, from the latest creative period of photographer Tamás Féner, from 2015 to 2025, curated by Katalin Füri.
In parallel with the evoking of personal stories and memories, in the last decade the artist Féner has been experimenting with a completely new, abstract, constructive system of forms. In his photo compositions, objects and geometric surfaces become montages with symbolic meaning, attributes related to people and portraits, while at other times the same forms turn into playful elements of pure abstraction. L’art pour l’art, free from expectations.
The photographs on display in the exhibition are primarily made in the spirit of constructivism and geometric editing, but over time, the black-and-white compositions are replaced by colorful, playful abstract images. In the foreground of the exhibition, the author’s earlier, structural compositions with a similar approach appear, thus the constructive editing principle that can be traced throughout his entire work emerges before the visitor. Also, in addition to the visual content, illustrative audio material is attached to the photos, especially interviews to Tamás Féner’s excerpts, that provide insight into the personal memories associated with the images in the exhibition.
The exhibition can be visited between November 27th, 2025 and March 31st, 2026 at St. György Square 4–5–6.
