Since the past months, PHOTOCONSORTIUM is collaborating with Europeana, the great European digital library, for the creation of a thematic channel focused on photography, and for metadata quality improvement of photographic collections. We are delighted to share Europeana’s annual report for 2016, Collaborating for Cultural Heritage.

“2016 was truly a year of collaboration between all stakeholders who strengthened the use, finances and quality of Europeana.  In 2016, together with you, we promised to Create Cultural Connections. To provide value for partners, improve data quality, open the data and strengthen the ecosystem.

With your help we invested in new approaches to improve the quality of the data of our partners, and worked with a number of institutions to either bring in new data or improve existing data. We also started to work more closely with many of you to understand how best to open up data, adhere to the tiers of the Europeana Publishing Framework, start the process of measuring impact and much of this work is reflected in these results.

We still have far to go, but this collaborative working has also born fruit at political levels with the support by the 28 Member States which reinvigorated interest in Europeana as a pillar in the European project.

We would like to thank you for all your hard work during the course of the year. You can dive in deeper and find out how you helped make 2016 a great year in exploring the Slidebean: help us celebrate on social media in using the #AllezCulture hashtag. The full report is also available to download.”
