On the occasion of the International Dance Day on 29th April, PHOTOCONSORTIUM is proud to present a special photogallery, just published on Europeana Photography Thematic Collection, and dedicated to the work of John R. Johnsen.

Born in Copenhagen in 1945, he was the photographer of the Royal Danish Ballet between 1970 and 1995. Yet he captured all aspects of dance before and beyond that, portraying among others the New York City Ballet, the Martha Graham Dance Company and the Dance Theater of Harlem.

The selection of photographs in the new gallery has been realized by PHOTOCONSORTIUM curator Sofie Taes among the collection of National Library of Denmark available via Europeana.
