From the curatorial effort of the EU project 1950s in Europe Kaleidoscope, every week on Friday there’s a new set of carefully selected photographs to be explored on the project’s website.

Today we present “Bears and Bambis: Children’s Day in Hungary”.

Every year on the last Sunday of May, Hungarian children are celebrated with a day dedicated to their favorite things. Master-photographer Sandór Bauer portrayed excited toddlers and their entertainers in this beautiful little picture set. With performing bears, magicians, balloons, cake and the iconic orange soda ‘Bambi’, this edition of Children’s Day catered to the taste of even the most discerning among partygoers!
