From the curatorial effort of the EU project 1950s in Europe Kaleidoscope, every week on Friday there’s a new set of carefully selected photographs to be explored on the project’s website. The exhibition we present today is a special one created and offered by project partner TopFoto on the occasion of the User Engagement workshop “Rephotography: Coventry Then and Now” to be held on 3rd December 2019, organized by Coventry University.

The gallery includes tens of historical pictures showing the re-development of Coventry in the 1950s which modernised the city from the heavy bomb damage of WW2

The Kaleidoscope annotation campaigns are still ongoing, join us!

What we’re looking for: creative minds to add descriptive tags to 1950s photographs sourced from, Europe’s largest portal to digital cultural heritage

Why we’re doing this: because metadata matters. We believe that adding relevant keywords to images will make them more easily discoverable in the treasure throve that is Europeana:

  • Surf to
  • Enter a campaign (Style & Design or Transport & Travel)
  • Add or upvote tags to the pictures
  • Work your way up to the top of the rankings

And afterwards don’t forget to share your impressions via the online survey. Thanks!!

Fifties in Europe Kaleidoscope is co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility Programme of the European Union, under GA n. INEA/CEF/ICT/A2017/1568496
